The Kinross & District Pipe Band was formed in 1946,
and has been going strong ever since. One of its founding
members, Alex Murphy, is still with the band today. He served
as Pipe Major for many years, stepping aside recently on health grounds and
making way for his Grandson, Leon, to take over the reigns.
Alex nevertheless continues to serve as an active Band member and mentor,
earning widespread recognition and admiration for his 60 years+ with the
Band!

Kinross have lifted this trophy, while Alexander Cox (10) also won in
his category, Novice drumming. In the piping, Douglas Weir (13)

Calling all experienced players !
The 2007 season now complete, we would strongly encourage all locally-based players
with some experience - particularly pipers - to come along and
join us.
We have a full calendar of competitions and galas lined up
for next summer, and as the local Pipe Band, we expect to be
playing again for the opening of
T in the Park in July.
Any such players will be made
very welcome,
as this will further expand the pipe and drum corps, and help us
achieve a healthy balance between learners and more experienced
players.
